The Georges River Land Trust’s 124-acre Appleton Preserve boasts high quality wildlife habitats along the Georges River and amongst its floodplain forest, forested and open wetlands, and upland conifer forests. Access to the river is available for fishing and canoeing showcasing the river’s rips and a section of an historical canal. The woodlands offer opportunities for hiking, snowshoeing and hunting. The Land for Maine’s Future Board supported the acquisition of the Appleton Preserve in 2006.
