The 55,578-acre Downeast Lakes Community Forest is a working landscape with seemingly endless opportunities for outdoor recreation. In the heart of a region famous for its fishing, visitors to this Downeast Lakes Land Trust property also enjoy hiking, hunting, snowmobiling, ATV riding, kayaking, remote camping, geocaching, and observing wildlife. The Land for Maine’s Future Board supported the acquisition of the Downeast Lakes Community Forest in four stages between 2004 and 2012.
