Located in Freeport, this 147-acre municipal park surrounds the town’s only large, undeveloped pond and marshland, prime habitat for waterfowl, great blue herons, and an occasional moose. Florida Lake attracts visitors for a number of outdoor recreational activities, including: hunting, fishing, nature study, hiking, ice skating, picnicking, canoeing, kayaking, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. The Land for Maine’s Future Board supported the acquisition of Florida Lake in 2002.
