Katahdin Forest Project

The Nature Conservancy’s 241,000-acre Katahdin Forest Project includes some of the most heavily used recreational areas of the Northern Forest, with several popular hiking and snowmobile trails, prime fishing spots, and opportunities for canoeists and white water rafters. The project also includes a conservation easement protecting a working forest that is the backbone of the Katahdin region. The Land for Maine’s Future Board supported the conservation of 195,000 acres of the Katahdin Forest in 2006.
