Kennebec Highlands

Located in the towns of Rome, Mount Vernon, Vienna, and New Sharon, the Kennebec Highlands is a 7,200-acre public reserve including the highest summits of Kennebec County. Visitors are drawn to its many miles of trails available for hiking, mountain biking, snowmobiling, and ATV riding. Others head to its secluded ponds and pristine streams for a day of fishing. The Land for Maine’s Future Board supported the acquisition of the Kennebec Highlands through multiple projects between 2001 and 2022
