Harpswell Heritage Land Trust’s 95-acre Long Reach Preserve provides a challenging 1.5-mile loop trail, which winds through changing forests and passes a peat bog nestled between prominent bedrock ridges before descending to the scenic shores of Long Reach. The preserve, part of more than 500 acres of uninterrupted conserved land, protects critical wildlife habitat while providing public access for hiking, hunting, and fishing. The Land for Maine’s Future Board supported the acquisition of the Long Reach Preserve in 2002.
