Virgil Parris Forest

Western Foothills Land Trust’s 1,236-acre Virgil Parris Forest, located in Buckfield, surrounds scenic South Pond. The preserve features a 2-mile trail ideal for snowshoeing in the winter, and running, walking, cycling and birding during the remainder of the year. A snowmobile trail winds through the forest and a water access site on South Pond is available for those interested in fishing and paddling. The Land for Maine’s Future Board supported the acquisition of 34 acres of the Virgil Parris Forest in 2009.
